topic post #10
This is my last topic post. My research paper is due tomorrow and I am really proud of how it has turned out. I have been working with this topic for the better half of a semester for two of my classes. I have considered a few times changing my degree to become an elementary teacher. I look at this topic differently. I use to be super bias and only thought my one way. Now I know the answer is a mixture of both sides.

topic post #9
I interviewed two teachers that are in my religious group. They helped me come up with a medium group that I had not thought of previously. I thought that it was either limiting recess and allowing art or the other way around. They told me that they take "brain breaks" in the middle of class. One important point that I had to look into was how rambunctious students that could not hold attention long were doing in this type of transition. One of the teachers told me that she had a boy last year that couldn't sit still and when he was acting up she told him to run to the fence and back, when he got back most of the time he was better. I think I will bring up brain breaks in the final research paper.

I think that this problem is already being taken care of, there are some schools that are still struggling, yes, but most schools have realized the problem and are starting to fix it. There is just too much curriculum and not enough time. The schools still teach children and they are teaching student how to do creative things on the computers such as graphic design. I would have love to learn graphic design in elementary school!!!

topic post #7
This possibly my working thesis, along with a few other ideas.
Misinterpretations
Although many people propose that the argument of recess is either yes or no, after careful review of both sides it is clear that recess, or time to play, and academic schooling are both equally important in a child’s development.
Gap
Although some people argue for or against recess, they neglect the importance of the other side of the argument.
Modification
Although I agree with the importance of play for children and the opposing view that schools need to become more academic for kids as the knowledge of humankind extends, it is important clarify how a solutions can be met for both.
Hypothesis testing
Some people explain the argument of play by only a yes or no, but a close analysis of the problem reveals the possibility of several simpilar explanations such as requiring time for play and creativity but also keeping the academic approach in schools.

Article of the Day 3/31/17
I have met a few guys this year that do not even call me 'girl.' I dated a guy that would refer to me as "my dude," I wasn't sure what to think about it. I have realized that it is a common thing to refer to a group of people as "guys," even if the group is composed of all females. I have also heard people use the term "woman" negatively. Even in joking I do not think that people should refer to anyone negatively. Joking is suppose to not hurt nor offend. Those are the best kind of jokes.

In my public speaking class I chose to do a topic similar to the one that I am doing in this class. I will talk about the elimination of recess in elementary school. I want to talk about how children learn through curiosity. My 3 year old cousin, Rosie, loves bugs. She will sit outside and play in the dirt with the ants. She also asks me what bugs are named. I always give them some made up name and she goes with it but she want to learn.

Article of the Day 3/28/17
This TED talk is really easy for me to relate to. Like most, if not all people, I judge others. It is something of the mind. You only see the person as what you know. You judge them before you know who they really are. As a child, my mom did a good job to teach us that we only know a portion of everyone's lives. Now if I am cut off while driving I am rather calm. I realize that they may be in a rush or their wife may be giving birth. It is no excuse for them to have treated me the way they did because I have my own life and problems too. But it makes it so that I am not being rude in return for their rash actions. My roommates have not been as good as they could have been to me this year. I was bullied in my own home for a long time. One roommate, that has apologized for bullying me and has in return been bullied too, asked me how in the world I could deal with being bullied the whole year. I told her that I have just come to the understanding that these girls have been raised differently than me. It is all of our first times living on our own and I understand that they are use to different things. One friend wants me to punch one of the girls. I told her that this is not a fight that I want to fight. I have not done anything wrong and I could be more patient with them.
