Article of the Day 3/31/17
I have met a few guys this year that do not even call me 'girl.' I dated a guy that would refer to me as "my dude," I wasn't sure what to think about it. I have realized that it is a common thing to refer to a group of people as "guys," even if the group is composed of all females. I have also heard people use the term "woman" negatively. Even in joking I do not think that people should refer to anyone negatively. Joking is suppose to not hurt nor offend. Those are the best kind of jokes.

In my public speaking class I chose to do a topic similar to the one that I am doing in this class. I will talk about the elimination of recess in elementary school. I want to talk about how children learn through curiosity. My 3 year old cousin, Rosie, loves bugs. She will sit outside and play in the dirt with the ants. She also asks me what bugs are named. I always give them some made up name and she goes with it but she want to learn.

Article of the Day 3/28/17
This TED talk is really easy for me to relate to. Like most, if not all people, I judge others. It is something of the mind. You only see the person as what you know. You judge them before you know who they really are. As a child, my mom did a good job to teach us that we only know a portion of everyone's lives. Now if I am cut off while driving I am rather calm. I realize that they may be in a rush or their wife may be giving birth. It is no excuse for them to have treated me the way they did because I have my own life and problems too. But it makes it so that I am not being rude in return for their rash actions. My roommates have not been as good as they could have been to me this year. I was bullied in my own home for a long time. One roommate, that has apologized for bullying me and has in return been bullied too, asked me how in the world I could deal with being bullied the whole year. I told her that I have just come to the understanding that these girls have been raised differently than me. It is all of our first times living on our own and I understand that they are use to different things. One friend wants me to punch one of the girls. I told her that this is not a fight that I want to fight. I have not done anything wrong and I could be more patient with them.

Schools are eliminating so many creative points in the school day. Schools are took out cursive. When I was in elementary school we had a morning choir class where all the children would come early that wanted to sing. So I came early then one morning they announced that they were cutting the program. Also in elementary school my school got a grant to start this art program that was taught once a week by parents. It was pretty cool and I loved it since they had stopped teaching us art. That was roughly 8 years ago.

I am focusing on how a child's development is changing because of the reliance of technology in the schools. My cousins know how to do more with technology than I do and they are 13 years younger than I am. Also little kids are learning how to program computers! That is something that I will probably never know how to do.

Article of the Day 3/3/17
The article in Business Insider was extremely interesting. It matches up a lot with the poem on truth that we read earlier this week. So many people don't know what the truth is. Because mankind is so stubborn, whenever we are told we are wrong we find reasons that we are "right," and we don't let go of our stance. Even if we know we are wrong, sometimes we still argue our point just for the purpose of not looking stupid. I found the part with the statistics of the crime rate in the United States going down but the citizens believe that it is actually raising really interesting.

I have found an article that will help me a lot. It talks about play and why it is important to the development of children. There is a quote that I really enjoy from the article, "When making art, we essentially play: translate and construct our world, create new things, and take risks with the unknown,” I believe that this article and another will be extremely helpful for me!
