Article of the Day 1/30/17
This was a strange poem. I found that she was arguing for the inequality of people, I find this topic a little stupid sometimes! People always argue for the rights of this group of people or another. Often times the laws that they want to put in place will take the rights away from other people. An example of this is the up rise of gay marriage. Gays had been trying to get the right to be married, so because of this there was talk of a law being passed to make it illegal to refuse to marry a gay couple. I find this very stupid, I of course believe that people should have rights. But when one group starts to take away the rights of others, that is taking it too far. It brings up the question, where is the point that it is okay to take away some rights of one group to give rights to another?

Article of the Day 1/25/17
The Three A's of Awesome was an amazing way to look at the world. Attitude, awareness, and authenticity are so important. I agree with Pasricha that these are so important!! I think the problems that he addresses are so crucial to our current society, yet no one pays attention to the necessity of these things! I think that this pertains to one of my main beliefs in happiness. finding the simple things to make you happy and choosing to be happy is so very important!!!

Article of the Day 1/23/17
We were asked to consider the quote "...if thought corrupts language, language can also corrupt thought." by George Orwell.
I immediately thought of how some people can be peer pressured into acting a certain way. This starts by the language that surrounds them. Then their thoughts, if they allow them, may be turned that way. A great deal of men start using offensive language when talking with women. They start to objectify all women, whether or not they feel the same. This is giving the power to men, because of their language their thought will, or are already, corrupted. This corruption can in some cases lead men to acting on these feelings.

Article of the Day 1/18/17
I found this article really interesting. Reading how she responded to the questions asked reminded me that most politicians will only answer the questions that they want to answer, and when they are asked a question that they do not want to answer they make one up to answer. I found it rather interesting that DeVos was being asked one question, a yes or no, and she kept answering the exact same thing. I do disagree, however, with DeVos' view on how disabilities should be dealt with in schools. I think that it should be something that is dealt with by the federal government. I am generally rather republican, but this I believe should be an issue that is dealt with across the whole country the same.

Article of the Day 1/16/17
The Brene Brown TED talk was interesting to listen to. I connect with her on the vulnerability. She says "vulnerability is not weakness," I agree and I have felt vulnerable in the last week at least seven times. She says that vulnerability is the most active source of courage. Brown is strong. I do not often think about my own vulnerability but it is definitely there. I told the boy I like that I liked him. He has awkwardly skirted around it for the last few days. I made myself vulnerable and I was hurt, but it took great courage. Brown talks about how shame is like a swamp, we are not supposed to set up camp and live there, we need to walk through the swamp and learn. We should not be afraid of failing. Failing is a step to getting better. This TED talk is what we should all live by, do not be afraid of failing. You can rise.
