Article of the Day 1/23/17
We were asked to consider the quote "...if thought corrupts language, language can also corrupt thought." by George Orwell.
I immediately thought of how some people can be peer pressured into acting a certain way. This starts by the language that surrounds them. Then their thoughts, if they allow them, may be turned that way. A great deal of men start using offensive language when talking with women. They start to objectify all women, whether or not they feel the same. This is giving the power to men, because of their language their thought will, or are already, corrupted. This corruption can in some cases lead men to acting on these feelings.

I hadn't thought about Orwell's quote referring to peer pressure, but it is an interesting idea! It's so common today that we listen to those around us and choose to accept what they're saying because it's a popular idea or think it will make you come across as someone better.
